Andrew is one of the country’s foremost authorities on walking – regularly writing for publications such as BBC Countryfile, Discover Britain, the AA Guide to Yorkshire, appearing on BBC local radio and since 2010 he has written, presented and produced his own series Walks Around Britain, which has grown to be the country’s leading digital destination for short walks and walking information and is now broadcast on television.
Especially for Ryedale Book Festival Andrew has agreed to lead a six mile walk along a section of the Wolds Way from East Heslerton to Scampston Park, near Rillington taking approximately two and a half hours. Don’t worry if you are visiting Ryedale without a car because a shuttle bus will be collecting walkers with pre-paid tickets from St Michael’s Church in Malton Town Centre at 10.00 am. Alternatively you can make your own way to the start of the walk outside East Heslerton Church (YO17 8RN) at 10.20 am. The walk will finish at Malton Show.
Tickets for the walk include entrance to Malton Show and use of the shuttle bus to the meeting point and from Scampston Park back to Malton. For more information about Malton’s traditional agricultural show please visit www.maltonshow.com.
Please note: pre-booking for this event is essential for transport reasons. Please do book free tickets if you are bringing children aged 11 and under.
