5th March 2020 - The Biggest Story on World Book Day
Under fives were invited to celebrate World Book Day at Pickering and Malton libraries. There were some special story-telling activities with children’s author Sarah Coyle, who introduced her fantastic picture book “The Biggest Story”.

27th September 2019 - From Mill to Monte Carlo
Historian and author Anne Fletcher talks about her debut book ‘From the Mill to Monte Carlo’.
The story is about Joseph Hobson Jagger who, as a child, worked in the mills of Victorian Bradford but went on to “break the bank” at Monte Carlo in 1850.

27th October 2018 - Ryedale Spookfest
Celebrating the eerie and the macabre, the depraved and the blood thirsty. A festival of the regions’ best horror writers and publishers. Terror in the written word had a new home in Ryedale and Malton was the place to be… for those who dared….

We heard about the fairy tales that inspired Jen Campbell’s collection of short stories “The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night”.

29th June 2018 - Journeys in Malton, Day One
An exclusive celebratory dinner featuring the authors of The Optician of Lampedusa and The Girl from Aleppo along with a craft workshop and a journey into happiness.

30th June 2018 - Journeys in Malton Day Two
An inspirational day of journeys through books featuring Viking voyages, migrating animals, treasure hunts, seaside histories, hotel secrets, Italian retreats, tales of survival and storytelling.

1st July 2018 - Journeys in Malton Day Three
Visitors joined walker and writer Andrew White on a six mile walk along a section of the Wolds Way from East Heslerton to Scampston Park.
